We offer every fade style you can think of. Skin fades that taper down to bare skin for the cleanest possible finish. Taper fades that keep a bit of length at the bottom for a more subtle look. Drop fades that arc behind the ear following your natural hairline. Burst fades that curve around the ear in a rounded, semi-circular shape. Low, mid, and high variations of each, depending on how dramatic you want the contrast.

The best fade depends on your face shape and features. If you have a round face, a high fade adds height and creates the illusion of a longer face. Oval faces work well with almost any fade style. Square faces look great with a mid fade that softens the angles. During your consultation at Barberhood, your barber will assess your face shape, hairline, and hair texture to recommend the most flattering fade for you.
Most fades look their sharpest for about two weeks. We recommend booking a touch-up every 2 to 3 weeks to keep the blend clean and the lines crisp. Skin fades grow out faster than taper fades, so if you prefer a skin fade, leaning toward the 2-week mark will keep you looking fresh. At Barberhood, a fade starts at $40 and a lineup between visits starts at $25.
Absolutely. Curly and textured hair actually holds a fade longer than straight hair because the curl pattern disguises the grow-out. Our barbers adapt their blending technique for every hair type, using different guard sizes and blade angles to create a seamless transition through the curls. Peter, Mike, and Ismael have extensive experience with all hair textures, from tight coils to loose waves.
A taper gradually reduces hair length as it moves down the sides and back, but it never goes down to the skin. The shortest point still has visible hair. A fade takes that transition further, blending all the way down to bare skin (in a skin fade) or very close to it. At Barberhood, we offer both styles and everything in between. Your barber will help you decide based on how clean and sharp you want the finish.
