“Your neighbourhood barbershop in Queen West”
The Queen West strip is legendary. Vogue once named West Queen West one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world. The Drake Hotel, Gladstone Hotel, and the galleries and vintage shops that line the street have made it a destination for locals and visitors alike. Graffiti Alley, just north of Queen between Portland and Spadina, is over 1,000 feet of street art from local and international artists. The Ossington strip, running north from Queen, is packed with some of Toronto's best bars, restaurants, and live music venues.
Our clients from Queen West are the ones who appreciate quality and details. They come in after browsing vintage shops on Queen, before dinner on Ossington, or as part of their Saturday routine in the neighbourhood. The energy here matches what we do at Barberhood: creative, intentional, and a little bit bold.
The 501 Queen streetcar runs right along Queen Street, with stops at Ossington, Dovercourt, and Dufferin all within walking distance. If you are coming from the Ossington subway station on Line 2, take the 63 Ossington bus south to Queen, then walk five minutes to Abell Street. Or just walk the whole way, it is about 12 minutes from the station.
We are open seven days a week. Monday to Saturday 10 AM to 8 PM, Sunday 11 AM to 5 PM. Walk-ins are always welcome, but booking online saves you the wait. Every appointment starts with a consultation, no extra charge.

History of
Queen West
Queen Street West developed its cultural identity in the late 1970s and 1980s, when affordable rents attracted artists, musicians, and independent retailers. By the 1990s, it had become the center of Toronto's alternative arts and nightlife scene.
In 2014, Vogue named Queen Street West one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world.
The Gladstone Hotel, built in 1889, and the Drake Hotel, built in 1890 and revitalized in 2004, played pivotal roles in shaping the area's creative identity. Graffiti Alley emerged in the 1990s as a recognized street art corridor stretching over 1,000 feet between Portland and Spadina.
Over time, the area transitioned from a working-class retail strip into a globally recognized arts, fashion, and cultural district. Today, Queen West blends boutique retail, experiential venues, and independent culture. Nearby transit investments, particularly the Ontario Line, are reinforcing its role as a key spine of downtown Toronto.
